bringing the outdoors in - inspiring restaurant spaces
With outdoor spaces now playing an even more important role for bars and restaurants as venues begin to reopen post-lockdown, we’ve seen some pretty innovative ways of maximising everything from gardens and terraces to car parks and previously dead space. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite inspiring restaurant spaces which have cleverly utilised outdoor areas or brought a slice of the outdoors in, and whilst we know some of these might be a bit aspirational we always like to dream big!
One of the most exclusive venues in London, and haunt of the rich and famous, Annabel’s private members club in Mayfair has taken the idea of the outdoors indoors to the next level. Their aptly named Garden restaurant is not only full to bursting with beautiful foliage and ever-changing floral displays, but the entire glass roof retracts in the summer, creating a self-contained open air space!
Gallow Green, NYC
Perched atop the McKittrick hotel in Chelsea, New York City, Gallow Green is a stunning rooftop bar which can be used almost all year round. With retractable shades which can be pulled in and out as the weather changes, it’s the perfect all-weather terrace space with amazing views over the city.
Pink Mama’s, Paris
Situated in the Pigalle neighbourhood of Paris, Pink Mama’s is an Italian spread across four floors and it’s the ultimate interior-lovers dream. Incorporating eclectic Parisian style, an abundance of foliage and some seriously instagrammable shades of pastel, the venue’s crowning glory is a beautiful rooftop bar which can be opened to the elements on sunny Parisian evenings.
Cisne Lounge, Saudi Arabia
Not *technically* an outdoor space, but a fantastic example of how to create the feel of an outdoor space indoors, Cisne Lounge in Saudi Arabia is a feat of amazing architectural design. The stunning stained glass windows provide a focal point, with the metal booths mirroring the pattern, we love the contrast of modern design meets organic, with the effective use of plants throughout.
A Bohemian explosion in the middle of Chicago, Beatnik restaurant is a perfect explosion of classic meets eclectic. Featuring a retractable roll-a-cover roof which can be rolled back when the weather’s fine, it’s an amazing example of alfresco dining, inside!
